I put a new mobo and cpu in the compaq and now I'm trying to figure out if the old restore disks (there's 10 of them) can be used to install the factory XP on the new 1TB hard drive?

thanks in advance, I did look around here and didn't find any posts about people who had the disks, just alot of people looking for disks

thanks yes and even better I used slp strings for HP and now I can use the DVD restore that came with my laptop, it's much more convenient than the 10 cd's for the compaq.
funny thing, I bought both those computers about the same time, one came with the DVD and the compaq I had to burn 10 cd's for restore. I've never even used the DVD but I had to use the 10 cd's several times.

thanks for the great info and great resources on this site
