have you installed memory management driver?
    or any RST/Sata driver?

    maybe check harddisk speeds ...

That is why I added the pictures. It is a 32bit, but as the photo shows ram use is below 1GB of the 4GB, resp. 2GB

Judging by the model number of this eMachine the op posted a link too, it originally ran Vista which means this is probably 10 years or more old. eMachine's have had a notorious reputation for crappy power supplies.

You claim that there is 4GB of memory installed, but you first screenshot shows that the system detects only 2GB of memory. I would investigate why. Either one DIMM is not the correct spec for the machine, or it's not installed properly.

op has 32 bit Windows 7, so 4 gb won't be used, possibly 3.5 gb or something like that.... but it'll never use the 4 gb's

Speccy should have showed the physically installed memory, whether it's x86 or x64 OS, shouldn't it?

That is true. But the screenshot only shows 2GB of memory, which is exactly half of what ThomasMann claims is installed. 32 bit OS and shared video memory be damned, there is a problem with the memory itself or the way it's installed.

the OP has a I7 first Gen running X32 win7 he should be running 64bit OS so he can have full capability of the 4GIG of ram....about the freezing could be driver or old falling HW.
