I notice that a number of older Toshiba laptops have two versions of bios. One for XP and one for Vista. The XP versions have no SLIC 2.0.

In general is it ok. to flash (via Dos) the Vista rom to a machine that has the XP rom or vice-versa?

    Are there any ramifications?

In the case of an Equium M50-244 (PSM59E) with XP bios 1.60 the current version on the Toshiba website is 1.90 for XP and 5.00 for Vista. Busykid508 has published a SLIC 2.1 mod for the Vista bios.

Can this be flashed straight into the same model with the XP bios? Or should I first flash the Vista bios to make sure the correct bootblock is present?

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
