    Hey guys,

I just bought a new Win 8 Pro Retail from BestBuy!
Now I have a question: On how many different PC's, laptops I can use the same Key to install Windows 8 Pro?

Note: All the computers will be on same network (same IP) and probably It will be installed on Just 2 Laptops.

    thanks

1 KEY is only for 1 PC at a time.

So if I install it on 2 PC's, one will be deactivated?

Once you use that key on 1 PC, it won't let you activate another PC with the same key.

Ultimately, as far as retail key as concern 1 Key is good to activate 1 PC but you can still activate 10 different PCs max w/ online activation or by phone activation. They key won't get blocked. But the Microsoft EULA says that you should activate only one PC for single retail key.

    Cheers

how? means that this key can activate retail 10 pcs different online by phone?
But,MS let you use 10 activations with a single key retail, even if done by phone? I still think for this activation by phone with key retail MS do it soon falls down.

I believe that after a certain amount of activations, Microsoft will block that key.

What I understand you can use the same key as many times as you like (obviously not on 1,000s of PCs), unless or until the key is reported for example, MS won't block (or blacklist) it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The safest way to utilize a genuine is to use it on offline machines. :p

Disclaimer: I'll not be held responsible if you end up with a block key after reading this post.

So, the 10 activations per key is a 24-hour limit or for the whole life? Also, the link you mentioned states you can activate multiple PCs with an OEM key, isn't tied with your motherboard?

    Thanks.

My wife just had to have Windows 8.1. So about 2 weeks ago I bought what was stated to be a Windows 8 Pro key on eBay. It activated Windows 8.1 immediately. Yesterday I install Windows 8.1 on my computer, used the same key, and it likewise activated immediately. So what I may have purchased is a MSDN/TechNet key?
