Why does the open source model not work for Microsoft? What is Microsoft's business model? Is there an advantage of the open source model in terms of software quality? Do you see that in real life in terms of the open source software that you use?

With open source multiple developers can work on a project so if there's a bug or an potential improvement it may happen sooner than later.

Interesting questions hasirani, sounds like what a teacher might ask the students ;)

    Open source
    - Everyone with programming experience is able to correct bugs in an application.
    - Development is more 'spread' and things might take longer to complete (not always).
    Microsoft
    - An army of developers working with the application for a living.
    - The software has to work if large corporations is to adopt it.
