I am no expert in OC but I think the chip would have to have a K, like an i5 3570k.

Not sure that any i3 can be OC but don't quote me on that.

An expert will be along shorty.

Easiest way for iX processor series would be to use the multiplier first. On desktop systems even the non-K processors can be overclocked that way a bit, but limitted compared with their K pendants. What does the BIOS/UEFI have options for here?

Hmm, even on non-K processors of my pals the multiplier could be raised to 38 or 39 (3,8/3,9 GHz), but they are very limitted in comparison to K pendants.

You can only over clock if your BIOS allows it , simple as that I'm afraid.

Also to be honest over clocking a laptop would be ill advised due to the heat produced. Most likely you would cause more harm than good. Over clocking is more suited to pc's where you can have good cooling solutions.

Indeed it would be in my opinion. To be honest I'd Just be happy with turbo boost. OC'ing a PC can be risky , a laptop even more so ! Not to sound rude but the fact OP even needs to ask the question would suggest more education is required before even attempting OC'ing. I only say that because the hardware risks can be financially expensive !

Well... If you guys are wondering why I have liquid cooling on my laptop.. its because when I play graphic intense games, my cpu tends to get hot 85 degrees Celsius and with the help of my 3d printer I got it to work. I use my laptop without the back panel attached. Oh well I think the i3 is capable of reaching 3.0 ghz or 2.8 ghz at least. I am also thinking about upgrading my cpu to an i5..or i7, any suggestions ?

Some people claim to be able to raise the multiplier even using a locked processor. Just do the same...

As far as I can see, he's not even reading the answers. He would benefit a lot if he could read and inform himself about computer hardware and how it works.
