    Hi all,

I recently switched from hazar's loader to daz's after hazar's loader wouldn't fix the window genuine messages. Daz's loader worked great for the first day, but when I tried to turn on my PC this morning it wouldn't boot. I tried Pressing R to start with out the loader (likewise pressing C) and also tried the method of burning the windows 7 recovery disk and booting from there. Problem is my PC won't boot from the recovery disc for some unknown reason! Any help would be appriciated. The PC was custom made about 3 years ago now and is running off an ASUS P5K-E motherboard. After trying to reset the boot order in the BIOS setup (putting CD-drive first when it was 3rd) just resulted in the PC not booting at all so I had to reset the CMOS by removing the battery, leaving it for an hour then trying again. Now I'm back to the situation where my pc won't boot from a DVD! Help!

    Cheers

    1) Did you download the loader off this website?
    2) Press/tap 'R' as you see the BIOS screen, at some point you're bound to trigger the menu.
    3) Unplug any USB devices if there are any other than mouse & keyboard.
    4) Change the boot order, power down the PC fully for 2 minutes and then try to boot from DVD.

** You may have an option to enable a quick access menu on an F button such as F12.
** GRUB is loading when you see "_" towards the top left of the screen, keep that in mind.

Now as for the loader solution, if it was the loader, then install it via the legacy setting under the applications advanced options.

cheers for the help Daz but I found the way that fixed it for me was by using this link

EDIT: can't post links until I'm at 20 posts...so just google 'fix mbr using ubuntu' and it's the third link down

I have no idea how the MBR broke but this solution got my pc up and running again, hopefully it stays that way!

Similar to lilo, either way it's great to hear that you got it fixed :) I doubt the loader is running but I would suggest that you at least try installing the loader under its legacy mode but this time also select to install the loader with the boot menu timeout as this will make it much easier to boot back into Windows should there be a problem, that is at least providing your system is GRUB compatible.

Cheers mate, so far it seems as if the loader might be running, if not I'll definitely try it under legacy mode like you suggested, cheers!

Odd, I guess the MBR itself was damaged somehow. Well It's great to hear it's working now anyway

    Loader Problem

Hi, i am new to this forum, and i am having problems with Daz loader. i have a gateway pc with pentium 4, and 1gb of ram. i install windows 7 ultimate, and then run your loader, restart, and as it restarts. a "_" appears at the top left corner of the screen. it never passes this screen. i inserted the windows disc and used the cmd and typed in bootsect.exe /nt60 sys /force and windows starts again but without the loader running. i tried then installing the loader with the legacy box checked. restarted, and the same thing happens. i do not know what is going on, can you please help me?

p.s. i had already installed the loader on 2 other pc's and worked perfectly.
What do you mean when you say GRUB is loading when you see "_" ? maybe a dumb question but i really do not know what you mean.
    hope you can help me

When you power on your system and you see the BIOS screen right after it you will see "_" towards the top left of your screen, this is the loader injecting the SLIC.

I'm going to say that you should disable ACPI sort. If disabling ACPI sort doesn't fix it then you should also disable type 4 memory. Just make sure that you unselect the legacy setting which you previously selected.

You see some systems don't agree with the default options but the majority do so finding the correct settings is really just achieved with trial and error.
