hello, there is a friend of mine who has windows 7 , and sometimes when he open .pdf extension files , opens with a wrong program, i have explained him that you can open .pdf with the "open with " option,"choose default program "but because he is a very beginnerso is very difficult for him to do that...
So,i would like to know how can i change the .pdf extension to open with adobe reader (free one) via a .bat or .cmd archive
i mean when he cannot open the .pdf with adobe reader, to run the .bat archive and then the pdf to open with adobe reader

The problem would be that he has several PDF-Readers installed and if he opens and PDF file created with Foxit (as example) the Foxit Reader will "jump" in if installed and so on. If he has only the Adobe Reader installed he wouldn't have a problem!

To me, it kinda begs the question as to why he has multiple pdf reading programs installed.

he has only adobe reader , but i cannot imagine how he is damaging his default program, always he change the default program to windows media center, and of course wmc cannot open the pdf
so is there any way to just open a .bat archive and change the default program to adobe reader ?

Sometimes some user didn't really know what all they've installed on their machine! If Adobe Reader is installed and a PDF file will be opened using a different Apps, then normally a different PDF Reader is installed.

To set Adobe as default reader, just right click on an PDF file and chose Open With, point to the Adobe reader as default opening apps and select that. That's the normal way to do the job!

Copy and paste the following into notepad and save as AdobeReader.reg

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf]
    "Content Type"="application/pdf"
    @="AcroExch.Document"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf\OpenWithList]
    @=""

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf\OpenWithList\AcroRd32.exe]
    @=""

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf\PersistentHandler]
    @="{F6594A6D-D57F-4EFD-B2C3-DCD9779E382E}"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf\ShellEx]

Thats it, simple and easy. OR right click a PDF file and click properties and then "change" the default program there
