I wanted to let everyone know that I just successfully upgraded the bios on an HP Pavillion: dv6345us with a 30BB motherboard, using str8's modded bios, a Win98 bootable USB stick, and Phlash16.exe. Worked perfectly with no hassles. As soon as I typed in "phlash16.exe BIOS.WPH" from the dos prompt, the flash program instantly came up, went to work, beeped happily as it did so, and then the machine suddenly shut off. Took the bootable USB stick out, rebooted and I was good to go. I did not see dv6354us associated with the SLIC 2.1 bios mod anywhere on the internet, so hopefully if anyone out there has one of these machines, they'll find this thread when googling around for something, and hopefully be able to make it all work. Many thanks to everyone involved, job well done!
I flashed str8's modded bios a thousand times, using windows and dos utils, and many command line options, but no slic appeared. The notebook is a dv6115ea (30BB) and it comes with XP preinstalled (so no original slic 2.0 table present). I tried to mod the bios using phoenixtool but it fails always with error "Unable to reintegrate MOD_5100.ROM", so I searched for an existent mod and found this. But after flashing, SLIC ToolKit says "Dump Error (SLIC Table not found)" and the only SLIC details are: XSDT: HPQOEMSLIC-MPC RSDT: HP 30BB Obviously, Windows won't activate. Do I miss something?
Thanks, you're the best! That procedures weren't working for me, but using another tool found in that post (DV6000.exe) I managed to change the OS value to Vista and Win7 is now activated. I will use some of these tools to activate an HP 620 with EFI bios that I bricked (and restored) trying to put slic 2.1 in it (and probably it's already there). EDIT: cannot find a tool to "turn on" the slic for the HP 620 (68PVI board)
hi! i've bricked my hp 620 too and i'm not able to restore original F.05 bios. i've tried everything. it starts with winkey+b but it seems the bios filename isn't correct. how did you restore it?
Hello, ok I'm completly new to bios modding, I just discovered it today and even if I understood it seems very usefull for windows activation, which is not my concern, I still don't get if this could help me to do what I try to do. I'm posting on this topic because I also have the 30BC motherboard with F.2D bios and maybe you could answer my questions... I'll be short: can I mod my bios in order to make appear some options ? Usually, I can change a lot of things through the bios, but there, I just can change the S-ATA detection, boot order and that's almost all. I hope I'm not posting somewhere I shouldn't, there are a lot of different but yet similar bioses that I can't even recognize where I should or I shouldn't be. >< Blease be gentle !
