Assuming it hasn't been removed, it'll be on a label on the bottom of the computer, or inside the battery compartment (remove the battery), or on the bottom of the battery itself.

If you've inspected every square inch of exterior surfaces (not a whole lot) and can't find the model number either on a printed peel and stick label or molded into the case material, I'd suggest it's been somehow removed.

Of course it's your call, but why do you want to update your BIOS? Are you having a specific problem or need?

I hope he realizes that if he accidentally flashes the wrong bios or for some other reasion the flash fails there is absolutely no way to recover it

Very astute observation. Unless you're having a problem the BIOS update fixes or you need the update to allow an upgrade, it's often best to just leave the BIOS alone in a properly working system. I've seen all too many computers turned into boat anchors by people who simply wanted the latest version and were not really equipped to do the update.

i mean that the laptop was capacitive for windows vista also my opinion is the existed bios don't work properly. the nvidia scaner cannot find correct my needed hardware drivers.
Maybe the bios was from the company i buy it hacked.

it stuck all the time frozen and force me to restart it the hard disk is new part also the graphic card, everything on system seems work properly but all the time stuck. I have try lot of OS linux winxp vista and seven. The problem allways is the same.......stuck and some times have blue screen for harware fail.
From service says all the times everything is ok. To now i send to them again one more time for check after the last crash and with one more issue pink colors on screen, the technician connect it to an other screen and shows fine, he said me they fix or change the screen. For this issue i have send to them for service the first time and they change the graphic card. I m sure the problem is inside from Bios this is my opinion and have some sense. Also i send to mitac e mail and ask for them to send me the drivers of Laptop. I will inform you again with last news after i receive it from service.
    Thank you guyzz!

@ lokasgr, forget about bios update if it was bios problem then there would be a bios update available with information about such issues it is either drivers problem or hardware.
