    If someone could please help.

The wife got a new MacBook Pro with El Capitan installed. When she plugs in her camera via USB, an app called Photos pops up. On her old MacBook (was stolen) she could see her camera in Devices, and click on it to open her camera to extract the images and drag them to the folder of her choosing.

Now this Photo's app opens up and its so restrictive, she doesn't know what to do and wants it like it was before.

I know nothing about OS X and I tried to delete the app (yeah I know, but I'm a Windows user) :p it wouldn't allow me to remove the app anyway.

Is there a way to get her camera to show up in Devices like before? Is it a setting, or should I nuke El Capitan and install Mountain Lion, like she had before?

    Thanks :D

Not by far, simply input correct question into uncle Google... Comes with practice

There is an "elegant" way to disable the self-launching app Photos

All you do is open Terminal, enter the following, and press Enter. Done.

defaults -currentHost write com.apple.ImageCapture disableHotPlug -bool YES
