i am running WIN7. last week i had some hardware porblem so my comp was unsuccessfully booted several times . finally i fixed the problem. but then i noticed that my Harddisk space was reduced by 3gb. i used all the disk cleaners like DISKMAX and CCLEANER and registry cleaner..but the prob is still there. Can anyone help.....in XP it used to be there the extension .chk i suppose?? please suggest ways to get back that space.
I am not sure but try cleaning up problem report and solution logs. I know they got pretty damn big in vista at least. I would also disable system restore, then re-enable it. This will free up a lot of storage because it deletes the old restore points. Your pc may have created restore points because of your issue man.
try chkdsk with all options enabled, should do a 5 phase task to see what happens there too if nothing else fixes it.
Sure it's not due to recovery points or shadow copies? If everything is working, you can disable it, and then re-enable it - that will wipe out all previous recovery points and shadowed files.
hello guys i have 2gb of RAM installed....and can you help me or tell me the path where is that system restore thing...
Thats what i also had in mind. Go to config -> system -> Advanced system config (right bar) -> system security.
