Hi I try to re-install window vista home premium for my laptop using the COA key under the laptop and it say the key is not valid during the installation. I'd try the window vista home premium key from "Vista OEM SLP keys" sticky thread and it went through so I know that I have the correct window vista version.

I tested my COA key under the laptop with the "online PIDCheck" and the key was good.

    Product Key :
    Validity : Valid
    Product ID :
    Activation ID :
    Edition Type : HomePremium
Description : Windows Vista Home Premium - OEM:COA
    Edition ID :
    Key Type : OEM:COA
    Crypto ID :

Any one have any idea? any suggestion?

thanks acrsn, I agree that if the key already activated then it need to phone in however, this is invalid at installation. I think the version OS I used does not match with the key. The laptop spec say that it is SP1 and the OS I installed is without the service pack.

I did try the method in your link and the message pop up saying activation completed. however, after the reboot I still see that it say activiation required in "Device Manager".

My laptop is a Toshiba and I download the TOSHIBA.xrm-ms from someone in this forum. Perhap, this xrm-ms does not with my laptop.
