Here I'm posting/creating this thread to know the member's PC security awareness level and try to learn how to keep the PC secured and virus free for safe computing and net surfing. The experts can post their opinion/suggestion/correction to some one's security configuration . Inspired by Malware tips . Here are the examples how to post your security configuration. PC Environment: Private Security Awareness: (i.e)Moderate/ low/Advanced Exposure to Malware; (i.e) Low/Moderate Infection Rate; (i.e) Low/moderate/high Operating System; (i.e) Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7 SP1/Windows8 Architecture; (i.e) 32/64-bit Real-time Protection ; (i.e)Avast/Avira/Bitdefender/AVG/Esetetc./Nothing On-Demand Tools ; (i.e) MBAM/Hitman pro and EEK (portable) for scanning malware packs Web Browser ; (i.e) Chrome/IE/Firefox Extensions and Plugins ; (i.e) QR-Code Tag Extension/Ad block/Traffic light/etc. UAC ; (i.e) Turned on /off RAR & ZIP: (i.e)WinRAR /7zip etc

PC Environment: Private/Home Security Awareness: Advanced Exposure to Malware: Low Infection Rate: Low Operating System: Windows 7 SP1 Architecture: 32 bit Real-time Protection: Laptop = MSE, Desktop = MSE, Media server = Bitdefender On-Demand Tools: MBAM/Hitman pro (rarely use them on my computers, just for fixing friends/family) Web Browser: Firefox Extensions and Plugins: Ad Block, grease monkey, HTTPS everywhere, New Tab Homepage UAC: Off RAR & ZIP: 7zip Backup: Each computer I have has System Restore enabled. Desktop and Laptop OS's are backed up incrementally every fortnight to my NAS/Mediaserver, Media Server OS is backed up weekly, Data is on a RAID 10 array and is backed up every week. Each computer is running Comodo firewall. Other info; When I download a file that looks sus to me, I run it in a VM with restore points to see if it has any effects. I also do online scans with virustotal.com of files and check the results. If I get infected, I have system restore points and system images that I can use to get back up and running. Haven't been infected for a good amount of time now.

Operating System: Windows 8 Pro Architecture: 64-bit Real-time Protection: Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013 On-Demand Tools: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro Web Browser: Firefox 22.0 [Do not track me enabled] Extensions and Plugins: Adblock Plus, Disconnect.Me, NoScript, HTTPS everywhere. UAC: On/Highest Level [Default] RAR & ZIP: 7-zip Additional: I have a Windows Account to login to my computer that's a standard user, my Administrator account is activated and passworded. Firewall has had all its rules disabled. I scan ever other night while sleeping. Fyi- posting system information such as these makes it easier for people to get at you.

Installed Security Software: NO AntiVirus Apps on any Computer at my LAN NO any other Security apps in any Computer at my LAN ALL Firewall's are disabled on any computer at my LAN Smoothwall Express running as kind Hardware Firewall and AV/Security Agent between my WAN and my LAN! Not every one's way but keep my systems clean and free from any infection over the past few years. And also keeps all the Resources, mainly needed by such apps running on station computers, for for to use because not needed by such apps!
