Haven't seen this mentioned here, thought there should be a mention on MDL: If you're using POS updates for XP, look out for the new KB3013455, it causes font rendering problems on web pages. Looks like there's a faulty win32k.sys inside (20150109 version, better stick with 20140823). I'm using OnePiece's DXUPAC.exe to create a new POSReady Addon pack every month, for the february version you can just skip KB3013455 and make the pack from the remaining updates, then create your updated XPSP3 source with RyanVMi, the "XP Final Post-SP3 Update pack" and your self-made POS Addon. Maybe Microsoft will fix this update, or maybe not (maybe they just kill off XP and Vista32SP2 this way). Any news on this will be appreciated, I'll post any updates here if I find any.
I installed Vista on a test system today, and let it update (including KB3013455). Didn't see the bad fonts, though... So now I really wonder if Microsoft will bother to fix this. EDIT: Thanks for the link, sebus. Looks like there's a lot of people complaining (and refusing the update) now, that might help to fix it after all...
I think it is hit and miss with this update. On one XP it screwed me up, and on another it was OK? On my Win7 it was also OK? Anyway it seems that you can just uninstall it if you end up with the problem. M$ is looking at this but like you say they probably will not do anything about it.
Thanks Atari800XL I went to the link you provided and got the patch and tried it. It worked on my English version. Now we will have to wait and see if there will be any problems in the future with installation's of anything new from M$ as Outbreaker has pointed out.
