hi there, I asked in my earlier post whether there is an offline activation option for Windows Media Centre and I was informed that there is an option. Using Microsoft Toolkit one can activate the WMC but only for 30 days. I don't know if the community has already discussed this but I think there could be a permanent solution for activating WMC if using MS toolkit with some software combination it could be made possible that the WMC activated with MS toolkit activates the WMC after every 24 hours, thereby always leaving WMC with 30 days of activation. Do you think it a possibility?
Yep, it is...and it´s name is AutoKMS, as part of MTK already. If AutoKMS is installed it creates a task by default to reactivate every 24 hours and at system startup. So activation will stay infinite. Other solution would be to install KMS Server Service and activate once against it using localhost as IP. Then reactivation will be repeated every 7 days (default timespan for it which is inbuild in KMS activation).
Why using KMS for W8 pro WMC ? You can have a permanent activation with an unused WMC key. I asked in the past more than 10 of them and could still activate by phone and by writing the ID's confirmed by M$.
Is that backup/restore-able as an activation? Benefits to having WMC other than the Media Center app and its features?
1- Yes, done many times with John Cell's soft on same hardware 2- No benefits as I don't use WMC but another video player, but it's only a trick to have permanent activation.
Can you explain how to activate Windows 8 Pro with WMC? It seems that it can be done but I cant find information on how to do it.
Ok, can you point me in the right direction? I can activate using autoKMS to Pro/Core. I just dont know how to do so and get WMC installed, activated and working. --- Figured it out...
