Hello, I am not completly sure if this is the right place for my question. I have a licensed Version of Windows Server 2012 R2. But it is only for installation on HP Servers. Is it possible to modify my ASUS H87 Pro Bios to tell the installer that it is an HP machine ? I tortured google for a few hours and now I'm here. Would be great if anyone could help me. Andi
Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately i don't have access to an HP Server. I will torture google again. Perhaps i can find these tables somewhere.
Hi! I got acces to an HP ProLiant Server today where installing Windows Server 2012 ROK is possible. But if i read the ACPI Tables with RW-Everything, there is no SLIC and no MSDM Table there. There is: - RSDP (Root System Description Pointer) - XSDT (Extended System Description Table) - RSDT (Root System Description Table) - FACP (Fixed ACPI Description Table) - APIC Multiple APIC Description Table) - MCFG (Memory Mapped Configuration Space Base Address Description Table) - SPMI (Service Processor Management Interface Table) - OEMB (OEMB Specific Information Table) - HPET (High Precision Event Timers Table) - EINJ (ACPI Error Injection Table) - BERT (ACPI BOOT Error Record Table) - ERST (ACPI Error Record Serialization Table) - HEST (ACPI Hardware Error Source Table) - SSDT (Secondary System Description Table) - FACS (Firmware ACPI Control Structure) - DSDT (Differentiated System Description Table) Which of these provides the information that installing the ROK version of Windows Server 2012 is allowed on this system and how can i get this information into the bios of the ASUS mainboard ? I only found tools to insert SLIC and SLP tables into another bios. Is the OEMB Table the one that allowas the ROK version to be installed ? Andi
i would like to ask the same question, what happened did you manage to get it to work? I'm about to be given a DELL ROK 2012 foundation license that came with a server while they will use their own Win 2008 Server Standard version. I have a gigabyte m/b that I could use to setup a small home server. Does this mean that by flashing my M/B with a 2.2 DELL slic would be able to use the ROK installation disk or bios mods have nothing to do with it? notes: you can buy a rok license from a retail shop without buying a server... I don't have access to the Dell server anymore
