Hello I have 390GB of very important information in the numerous files on the crashed HDD and previous system disk (with OS) that I need to save. All the data is now in raw format, this means W7 installed on SSD is not recognizing the old HDD; it’s a conflict with 2 OSes and switching priority in boot is of no help. Entirely detaching SSD from the system and only activating old HDD causes problem because it only lets me see the 4 separate colored parts of the Windows 7 flag and an annoying scraping sound is heard - probably - due to the reading head fetching data on the platter that has a dent (or dents).<=This is a result caused by Windows not accepting me ticking off all updates to not get genuine W10 (that is not in my favorites list amongst OS). So, the “defect” magnetic HDD needs to be saved; but without spending money! Is it too difficult an endeavor to pursue this by yourself (me in this case doing this job) or is it imperative that a “professional” IT person is paid money [too much for that work that can be done by me]? I need serious advice for this; HDD is WD 5000KS Caviar. P.S. If this post is in the wrong forum, be so kind and move it to the correct place. Thank You
