Problem after injecting drivers to wim on 8.1

    Gentlemen,
    I'm an avid reader of the site and have contributed very little because the knowledge base here is far greater than mine. I've learned a lot over the years and would like to thank those for their contributions and time.

    I would like some assistance with a problem injecting drivers into the wim file for windows 8 x64 WMC Retail and 8.1 x64 WMC Retail.
    When I install the drivers that are current on my operating system, Win 8.1 x64 WMC Retail both retail key activated then I have a problem with the install.

    The problem is that after I inject the drivers and do a clean install, the USB keyboard and mouse don't respond to input. The indicator on the key board isn't lit up, which means no power. I plugged an old keyboard in that has the DIN plug and it responds. I get through the install set-up screens using the old keyboard. Then I reboot but the USB keyboard and USB mouse still don't respond. Seems the default drivers from windows don't load either.

    Everything goes well with a clean install without adding the drivers to the wim file. It doesn't activate until I install the recent drivers. The keyboard and mouse keep working normally with the same updated drivers that I inject to the wim.

    So my question is, should the drivers be installed else where, like boot wim or the PE wim? or all three places or is this a different issue?

    You gave us the symptoms, but not the procedure you used to integrate drivers, and where the drivers came from. Version numbers, etc.
    I have to say... I have not seen any usb3 drivers for 8.1 yet. If you tried to integrate those from an old Windows 8.0 driver, you will have problems.

    Hi murphy,
    I use the command: Dism /Image:C:\win8\mount /Add-Driver /Driver:C:\win8\drivers /ForceUnsigned /recurse

    The drivers are from my running windows 8 or 8.1. I back up the drivers from the system in respective folders. The drivers are from Intel
    I don't have USB 3.0 on my system.
