    Hi Guys,

    Forgive me if this has been posted before, I've search the forums and found nothing that helps me.

    I've had to repair/reinstall windows XP due to a deleted file and am stuck on the 'enter the key' page. I typed in the Product Key from the 'unattatched'? (something like that) file and its not matching. There's no sticker on the side of my computer either...

    If anyone fancies a crack at this conundrum write back please?!

    Thanks!

    What kind of disc is it..VLK or OEM??

    Check the setupp.ini on the disc with ultraiso.

    key must match pidgen.dll, dcpdll.dll and setupp.ini

    setupp.ini should look like

    [Pid]
    ExtraData=786F687170637175716954806365EF
    Pid=76487xxx

    xxx can be 000, 270, OEM

    Hi Guys!

    Thanks for your replies!

    @Urie
    For some reason its not opening up the link or the page... aint got a clue why lol

    @TDS
    I only have access to a Mac and can't open up any windows files other than text files, is there any other files you know of?

    @911Medic
    I assume its a OEM, When its loads up on my Mac it says VRMHOEM.

    Thanks again and sorry if I sounds like complete plank, but its safe to safe am out of my very shallow depth with this one! :(

    Thanks for your help 911medic! in typical fashion I'm still having problems, I entered the extradata number and the PID. I tried to open up the pidgen.dll file and it said it 'cannot open in DOS' (Not sure wether its something to do with me using a mac..)

    It says the number I am after is 25 characters....

    I again apologise if I seem to be a pain in the a** :)

    Thanks for your reply TDS!

    I found the pidgen.dll, dpcdll.dl_ and setupp.ini but could not find the winnt.sif. The only .sif. I could find was txtsetup.sif.

    I'm also not sure how to upload the files.... This thread is making me sound more clueless as it goes on lol :eek:

    To avoid the activation procedure by using a Royalty Key.
    I have Asus SLP in BIOS.

    You are missing the point, or I am missing yours....You need to have asus oembios files and a SLP key. You can simply add them to your present cd..Neutral OEMBIOS files will NOT activate the OS..

    OK, you have indirectly answered my question. I have the Asus Oembios files,
    the SLP Key and a neutral OEM CD. I will do what you said. Thank you!
