Don't see why I shouldn't be able to change the login background--the utility worked before this latest update. The way now would be to figure out how it's done in the registry but I'm not sure.
Yeah, but the Login Image changer doesn't. Is that another utility, and does it change the login background? Lockscreen is different.
Yes, and yes. And it does the lockscreen too if you want, but you can change just the login screen with it. I know because I just did it after today's update.
It has the ability to change both the lock screen and the login screen images, it actually gave me trouble with the lock screen before but you can change that in settings app instead, but yes it will change the login image.
I'm with him on this, everyone downloading and installing all this mess, then wondering why something does not work as it should, it's works as long as you do not mess with system files, if you do, then you got problems, if you decide you would like to get back to default settings, try: How to repair Windows image: In ADMIN Cmd Prompt type sfc /scannow may take up to 3 times press enter on keyboard if this finds errors try In ADMIN Cmd Prompt Type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth Press enter on keyboard, wait for it to finish, If this does not fix problem, then With ISO Media in CD/DVD tray: (The same media you installed image with) Type in ADMIN Cmd Prompt DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:wim:C:\install.wim:1 /limitaccess press enter on keyboard, wait for it to finish--C would be drive letter of your CD/DVD tray Bring up ADMIN Cmd prompt, type chkdsk /r /f , and press enter on your keyboard, then a Y, then reboot, it now checks your disk for errors and fixes them. If this does not work, sit back, relax several options now: Backup copy of image Reset/Recovery Reformatt partition, install ISO again Hope this helps ***One thing you must realize, this will set your system files back to default settings, so if you have done anything wacky, it's going to set it back to default.
Not a problem. I had a good backup and also was able to fix it with system restore. I just want an image of my choice at the login screen.
Thanks for the link. Same problem though. Works fine before today's update; if used after the update then I can no longer sign out--the only way I can find to sign out is with Start10. How can you do it with the regular Windows 10 start menu--only options are Shutdown, Restart and Sleep?
I'm using Classic Shell and can still sign out also. I think this means that start menu software is a good idea for windows 10 so far.
Did the same thing with Classic Shell. Must be something peculiar to my system. Thanks a lot for your help!
