my windows search stopped working properly since last week. everytime that i search it found only things from control panel, start menu and etc, and not the folder's files. i tried to reindex, and even to include the entire c drive in the indexing, and no good. i have another user, and it works in it, but in my user i can't find anything.... it might be a result of tweaking software or something, but i can't restore it....
Have you checked your search options? Open Computer Click Organize (top left) Click Folder and Search Options Click Search Check the ones you want to show on your search Or just click restore defaults
Sorry it did not work out for you. Perhaps you can hang in there and wait for others to suggest a possible fix.
i said that i suspect that a tweaking program messed something up. is there any service or setting that i can try? it's absurd, i am in a folder, see that there is a file named FILE in there, i press FILE to search, and i get - "no results"
I'm not sure what else you can try. Maybe System Restore, if you had it on. You can probably also try turn off windows search, rebooting, turning it back on and reboot once again. You can find that by going to Control Panel then Programs then Turn Windows Features On or Off. Find Windows Search, uncheck it reboot, do the same thing, Turn it back on and reboot once again. Other than that, I've run out of ideas. @ DARKOR04 > That's alright, no problem. < maybe you can suggest a fix, I've run out...
the problem isn't only in the start menu, it's in the search, entirely.... going to try bluealien suggestion...
I don't know what else to do... to help him. I've been looking over the net about an hour, but nothing yet... sorry (Still looking)
well thanks guys for the efforts, but nothing yet. the weird thing is that the computer finds the non indexed files, and not the indexed (beside the c:\users subdirectories)
