I'm having problems with Windows 8 Activation using KMS.

Whenever I run the following code in Command Prompt (It is run using Administrator i.e. 'Run as administrator')
    Code:
    slmgr.vbs -ipk <key>
    I get the following error
    Code:
Error: 0x80070005 Access denied: the requested action requires elevated privileges
When I run the following code
    Code:
    slmgr /skms <kms-server>
    There is no error

But when I run the following code
    Code:
    slmgr.vbs -ato
I again get the following error
    Code:
Error: 0x80070005 Access denied: the requested action requires elevated privileges
Note: All the commands are carried out in command prompt with elevated privileges (It is run using Administrator i.e. 'Run as administrator')

    slmgr.vbs /dlv command gives

    Code:
    Name: Windows(R), Professional edition
Description: Windows(R) Operating System, VOLUME_KMSCLIENT channel
    Activation ID: a98bcd6d-5343-4603-8afe-5908e4611112
    Application ID: 55c92734-d682-4d71-983e-d6ec3f16059f
    Extended PID: 05426-01787-000-000011-03-16393-9200.0000-3022012
    Installation ID: 614835631171006215272003235619304345009310864853269813600055203

    Partial Product Key: J8CK4
    License Status: Notification
    Notification Reason: 0xC004F00F.
    Remaining Windows rearm count: 1000
    Trusted time: 16-05-2013 01:58:50 PM
    Configured Activation Type: All
Please use slmgr.vbs /ato to activate and update KMS client information in order to update values.

Note: I have also scanned my system for malware and viruses.

I have also carried out sfc /scannow in normal mode and safe mode

I have also tried MKT and I'm getting the following

    Code:
    System.UnauthorizedAccessException
       at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHRInternal(Int32 errorCode, IntPtr errorInfo)
       at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHR(Int32 errorCode)
at System.Management.ManagementObject.InvokeMethod(String methodName, ManagementBaseObject inParameters, InvokeMethodOptions options)
       at ..( , String , Boolean , String , Int32 , String , Boolean , Boolean )
       at ..(String , Int32 , , Boolean , Boolean , String , Boolean )
       at ..(Object , DoWorkEventArgs )
and I have installed this version of Windows 8

    Code:
    Windows 8 (x64) English-United Kingdom
    3348 MB
    File Name: en-gb_windows_8_x64_dvd_915412.iso
    SHA1: 79ED9958CF1690DD8A60A0B1B15F5DCC76C8E625

I have also activated the Super admin by

    Code:
    net user administrator /active:yes
and tried out all the possible commands.

Even tried out sfc /scannow with the Super Admin user in Normal as well as Safe mode.

Any help would be appreciated.

You'll need to run CMD as Adnimistrator/in elevated Mode only.

Open the Start Screen follow by All Apps and under Windows System right click on Command Prompt and chose Run as administrator

    Now run your commands again!

I have already done that. I even mentioned it in the Notes.

Not that I know of. I just checked. I have both the folders.
Also I'm unable to install some of the windows updates.

    No, not at all.
I had installed Windows 8 in October 2012 just few days after it's release and activated it using KMS servers.
So after 6 months. It was time to activate again, and it won't activate.

So, that said means you exceed the 180 day's?

Seems to be that you've to re-install Windows 8 now. In that case, save all your data which will be mainly under Users and under ProgramData. If you do an normal install, NOT Clean Install, all those old Data will be saved in Windows.old which you could delete after copy your data back.

That would be the fasted way to get you Windows up and working. You could try to rearm the old one but may not work at all.

if a system exceeds activation limit beyond 180 days does not mean that it must be reinstalled. No, I don't believe this. Honestly I never had that case but it is quite nonsense to me as you cannot sell a software to someone who doesn't use it for half a year and then he needs to go from scratch. I still believe there is another bug ...

Yes I have exceeded the 180 days.
But why will I have to reinstall Windows again?
Can't I activate again with KMS after 180 days? Or the activation was supposed to be done before 180 days?

this is normal behavior during notification mode. You only can run updates when activated

Sorry Paul, we using KMS on 2 customers places, legit by the way, and was need 2 weeks ago to reinstall on 3 machines after the 180 days were exceeded! No problem for us because all Data are saved on File Servers and we just was need to restore an Image and activate it.

Again, that's in legit environment. May it differs with "3.party" KMS!

I think I have read something about problems with en-GB; and some said they solved it by installing the en-US LP, just FYI. :p
