Does your system have one of the required ASUS SLP string in it's BIOS? eg: If not, start with reading up on the requirements for OEM:SLP activation
To use OEMBIOS files for OEM activation you need the correct SLP string in your BIOS as FS says. I would personally go modded hosts file + VLK for XP
Thanks for reply but how can I do that? (Actually I don't want to edit anything in my BIOS as I know nothing about it, unless it could be renewed after a reintallation of OS, or there is method of emulation)
See my post here: http://forums.mydigitallife.net/thr...figuring-out-what-to-do..?p=258113#post258113 Try that to check if you have the string in your BIOS (or use one of the other tools). If you do not have the string in your BIOS then the easiest way of adding it is to use the DMI Boot CD. Its posted here: http://forums.mydigitallife.net/thr...Award-AMI-Intel-BIOS-(Add-SLP1.0-w-o-modding)
Thanks for your answer, the toolkit shows me "Dump Error ! (SLIC Table Not found ! )", but I would like to know does the DMI boot CD works for all computers (mine is using American Megatrends Inc. AMI BIOS, but I think it doesn't have any SLP string or stuff like SLIC) And one more question, if I reinstall Windows or install other OS, are my BIOS and all stuffs inside it including SLP and SLIC removed?
That is weird that it didn't work. Maybe someone else knows whats wrong? I've only ever used the CD twice so I am clueless
http://forums.mydigitallife.net/archive/index.php/t-430.html hope this help's also check to see if you have slp in bios by useing http://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/9795-The-Windows-XP-OEMBIOS-Archive
blackranger, I suggest to go on more systematic! First try to write a DMI string and check it if it's present with OEM bios tool: http://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/9795-The-Windows-XP-OEMBIOS-Archive The tool must show your string written, otherwise you shouldn't go on! Don't mess with different vendors, choose one only. Go for ASUS_FLASH string the latest fileset is valid at DMI.... Try different tools. DMICFG, DMIScope or DMI editor......DMIScope could work.. Only IF the string was permanently written into DMI it'll activate... You have to try what DMI string you can overwrite Btw: Best would be a modded bios using andy's tool
