I have a USB stick, and want to backup my current BIOS, before I update it. I have downloaded these 2 programs, and feel confident they are right for me and my computer: sp51606 (BIOS Update) sp50286 (UEFI) I am trying to follow the instructions here: digitalchunk com / hp-bios-update-utility-tutorial.htm But it looks wrong. My USB stick is called HP_TOOLS, and the original HP_TOOLS has been renamed. Running UEFI, I choose to install on "USB Drive". Now I have a folder called Hewlett-Packard, and the contents match sort of what I expect: A SystemDiags folder with Crypt*, SystemDiags* and VideoMem* I can be more specific if you need it. Then I run Bios Update, again choosing "Create a bootable USB Disk on Key". I choose my USB stick and continue. The stick is formatted, and 68PVI.BIN, eRompaq.exe and gpl2.txt remains. This is not what I expected from reading the instructions mentioned above and existing elsewhere: h30434 www3 hp com / t5 / Other-Notebook-PC-questions / How-to-use-the-HP-BIOS-update-uefi-utility / td-p / 337347 Please help.
