Hi! I have searched and searched for an answer to my problem. I've been trying to activate Win 7 on my Dell XPS 430 for 2-3 days now: without result. I have tried Daz' loader, Hazar's, some tool kit named Windows 7 Activator etc etc. Formated my disk 4-5 times, and now I'm sick and tired of it. I've read something about RAM and SLIC's, but I've failed to completely understand what it is. Flash BIOS? I have no clue. It feels like a djungle. I bought the computer in October last year, and I haven't made any updates to the BIOS etc. I found a BIOS update on Dell's homepage, but it only said it would update the logo or something. Peeps, help me out here! Thanks in advance. P.S If there already are like thousands of threads just like this one: I apologize. But, like I said, I have searched the entire web (err, it feels like that anyway). D.S
I flashed the BIOS from inside of windows with no problem, but I would close down as many unnecessary programs as possible. The BIOS mod., tells Win. that your Dell system is authorized to be sold with Vista or 7 installed. I suggest using a preactivated version of win7
Wrong! I modded my bios and everything is fine! Now I'm a owner of a legit Win7 Ultimate x64 OEM version
same problem. System wont boot after installing windows loader I've been at it for days trying to get windows 7 loader (DAZ) to work. I've listed things I've tried on bottom to make it easier to read (hopefully) anyone have this patch or can send it to me? greatly appreciated also, The bios is version A01, should i reflash it to the older bios? TRIED THIS FIRST Repair startup issues Put the Windows 7 installation disc in the disc drive, and then start your computer. Press a key when you are prompted. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next. Click Repair your computer. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt. Bootrec.exe /FixMbr Bootrec.exe /FixBoot Bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd Press ENTER after each command. Restart your computer. SECOND TRIED Is Windows failing to boot after you installed the loader? Just do the following. * Boot up the PC from your Windows installation disk * Press and hold SHIFT and then press F10 * Input "bootsect.exe /nt60 SYS /force" (without quotes) * Restart the PC Note: If the above doesn't fix your boot issue then use the command "bootsect.exe /nt60 ALL /force" instead. Just make sure you remove all USB flash drives before you use the command. Alternatively try holding the 'R' key after your BIOS screen. If you time it right then you'll see a boot menu. From the menu select to boot without a SLIC. OTHER THINGS I'VE TRIED checked hard drive for errors, used windows memory tools to check memory, made sure all cable and cards are secure and inplace. second time i did it i formatted the drive when i put in the windows CD. works perfectly appart from when I use the loader.
downloaded WIn 7 home premium 64bit from MS digital river site. (X17-58997) I've used this media and the DAZ loader on a few systems before but this DELL XPS 430 just doesnt take it. i thought it may be the BIOS not liking the loader
if it came from Digital river its untouched, and home premium is supported. That is good news. I am a little confused why the title of the thread says Ultimate, and you have Home Premium, but that isn't terribly important lol Have you tried other activators besides Windows Loader? also at a command prompt with administrator rights (run as admin) type sfc /scannow
sorry not my thread but this person had very similar if not identical problems i think. I haven't tried other loaders yet as its ALOT of hastle to reinstall windows (the first 2 times i installed lots of software too, stupidly). basically the system is unactivated, i will so the sfc scan now. thanks
check the other thread you post in as well, DAZ has replied to you. yeah I see now, with 2 pages I just assumed this was yours, my bad hehe
