you could but you might not have many options to choose from based on that socket, and probably wont see any benefits in doing an upgrade

The highest cpu that you could upgrade to is an AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile technology RM-77. Not much of an upgrade;quad core is not available.

Hi guys, thanks to both of you for your replies. There no real way to justify the money for an upgrade if im not getting much on a difference. sucks :( Thanks again guys.

You have an athlon xp 2000 more then likely. it has a 266 front side bus. the only upgrade would depend on whether or not your motherboard would support the 333 fsb. if i remember correctly, the 2000 was the top end for the 266 fsb. Also, good luck trying to find the AMD xp's any more. You may indeed have to go the route of a full upgrade.

Is the laptop running slow, or do you just want more performance out of it?
