product.ini confusion

Discussion in 'Windows 8' started by Deleted member 222776, Jul 9, 2018.

    Hello,

I know that the file product.ini inside the sources folder on the dvd contains all the install (non-activating) keys for windows. But what confuses is why don't all images have this file? So far I've only been able to find it in Windows 7, but none in 8/8.1 or 10. Why is that? Does this file exist only on specific editions?

I couldn't find any reference on the web at all for this and I would appreciate any info you can give me.

    Thanks

They don't want users to know the keys, specially KMS GVLKs, so it restricted to Enterprise ISO

but now with Win10 UUP, it's always found

Was estonished to see that even the Business MVS ISOs don't contain that file (didn't check the VLSCs). Only UUP>ISO, as @abbodi1406 pointed out, do always have them :g:.

  3. So Windows 10 UUP has this file. But what about Windows 8 and 8.1?

  7. I'll have to check this out myself.
Can I assume Windows 8 is the same or no?
