Hi all, I have an ABIT IP 35 Pro board that I want to start playing around with. I peeled off the sticker and my bios is: W39V080FAPZ. I haven't been able to find out much about this other than it's a PLCC chip.

I was wondering if I buy a couple chips - and then buy this, will it work to flash the chip I have? Or - how can I find out what number of pins my chip is?

I'm just getting into this stuff, I think it's pretty fun and though I don't have a lot of money to drop it'd be kinda cool to be able to reflash dead chips.

It won't let me post a link unfortunately, so the site is Sivava.com and it's the Eprom Programmer 5.

It says that one reprograms plcc32... not sure if this is what I need, I assume so but I need to be sure.

TY if anyone can help me, I will continue the search...poor Google LOL:p

*Edit: I am fairly certain the chip is the same as what this reprograms, seems pretty standard as far as PLCC chips go for Bios's in motherboards but I still wonder is this an okay tool, do I need to dig further and make sure it will support reprogramming, or is it completely useless to me/is something else possibly better.

Thank you :) I did find a post on an old site about someone not being able to find the W39V080FAPZ in the software even though it's listed, but hopefully that was a case of user error :D

Sure enough, I downloaded the new software and the old recommended software. Nowhere in there did it have my bios chip number, :/

I'll be calling customer service to see before I buy. It was "close" but no cigar - I found a W39V040FA, which is of course different than W39V080FAPZ, but maybe it's all I need. Who knows...hopefully they will, since they say it's supported!
