I installed this controller card and put two Seagate 1.5T drives on it. Installed the drivers and such. In Windows 7 they come up as External devives. What's with that.

since the controller supports hot swapping they probably are listed under removable devices.

Sata is hot swappable, AHCI mode is the culprit

I looked in my bios and didn't see such a thing as AHCI

It is an add on card I thought, check for a configuration utility. Does it really hurt anything though?

No it doesn't hurt anything. I was wondering why. I'll havt to see if there's a configuration utility for this card.

If you have a raid adapter then all drives connected to it are treated as external/removable.
You need a non-raid adapter and non raid bios to be able to boot from internal disks.
    What is your adapter model?

I downloaded the utility and tried it. The program doesn't shown any drives installed.
