Does anyone know where I purchase a legitimate copy of Windows 7 retail or a key? I would go OEM, which are readily available, but I want to be able to reinstall if I change my Mobo.

If you change your mobo with a OEM windows 7 key, you'll have to make a call to a computer voice, which ask you if you're using this key on 1 computer, choose yes and after a new activation code is delivery.
    Retail key are more expensive.

It shows you know nothing at all !!!!! If the sites were selling stolen Keys MSFT would shut them down. The stolen Keys would be BLACKLISTED and you could not use them to Activate. BUT wait my Keys ARE ACTIVATED. NO STOLEN KEYS. You would not understand that :eek::eek:

Are you getting the Microsoft COA (Certificate Of Authenticity) sticker with those keys?

Would MSFT leave the site up if it wasn't genuine ?
What happens to MDL when you post stuff not genuine ? How long before MSFT tells you to take it down ?
You are a Super Moderator and don't know this stuff ?

Yes they have done left sites up, one such member MSDNAA that was his last alias used to come on offer free download links to M$ iso files. But if you required key you needed to P.M. him then he would charge member he was banned came back saying he would not do it again but still did he also had his so called M$ certified partner web site and a few others. Eventually after many years they caught up with him.

And what happens to MDL when you post stuff not genuine. Wrong forum no modified iso files allowed here or retail, mak keys or warez.
We even receive DMCA take down notices in certain sections and that is for original iso files.

So yes I do know this stuff but you cannot accept the fact that those to sites are not genuine.

It might be less expensive to use ebay, et alia. to actually buy a used windows 7 machine
and use or upgrade it yourself...
I know someone who did this and she got a nice, used, affordable machine with windows 7.
All she did was add a 2nd hard drive as a backup and added some fans...
    No complaints from her... :tasty:

Check out Amazon.com. I've recently seen Windows 7 offered for $40 or $50 there.

I bought a retail key for the ultimate edition earlier today from Kinguin. It was about $55 or so. I had gotten one for 8.1 Pro earlier for even cheaper there earlier this year. Both keys are genuine. I suppose amazon might be a choice too, but I don't know if they have the buyer protection that kinguin does.

Well... Following this post, I also got a Windows 7 Ultimate key from a seller called iDigital from kinguin.net. At that time, I could install and activate successfully. Today I reinstalled Windows 7 and... Now I see the key has been blocked by Microsoft! I can't activate my copy anymore. I already opened a ticket but just wanted to let you know.
Edit: Kinguin.net refunded the purchase after some small efforts.
