Need to convert mp4/mkv files with separated .srt subs to avi format. Can you recommend any/best program?

This is the best of the VidCoder (x86 & x64). I use the 2.8 beta.

I have a different problem. I used WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe in order to convert a DVD Video file with subtitle embedded in it to .MP4 but it has no subtitle after converting.
Does anyone know what soft still keep subtitle after converting, please let me know.

    Thanks in advance

    Try Avidemux with mediaInfo.

MediaInfo will analyze the video file allowing you to make only the changes absolutely necessary with Avidemux, it should preserve your subtitles as long as you make the right selections. Avidemux is not as user friendly as WinX and DVDfab but it is more versatile. There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube.
