Here's what I learned... You can't do a proper in place upgrade from Windows 7 to 8.1 - it let's you keep your settings, but not apps. However, you can go from 7 to 8 to 8.1 and keep them.

Does anyone know a trick around this? Or, can somebody help me find win 8 pro vl x64?

I've been unable to find anything with the correct hash. All of the links have understandably been removed from these forums, but I REALLY don't feel like reinstalling all my apps.

Thanks so much. Downloading! Question though- the file name suggests that it has an activator in the image. Is that so? and if so - how could it match the SHA from MSDN?

Nope, it's untouched. The Pro_VL ISO contains only Professional index.

Use hashtab, install it and once the iso downloaded , open its properties, you'l see a new tab for hash and compare with msdn one. For activation use mtk or kmspico you have the choice. ;)
