Is there such a thing as QR Code Reader without permanent advertising popping up? Maybe an old version of one? Thanks....
Play store is full of s**t. Use : com.secuso.privacyFriendlyCodeScanner on FDroid You can check where it leads prior browsing. No ads, no bulls**t, no google, just something good.
It is not so much that Google is full of it, it is.... and so I do not even have a google account and cannot use the store. But fdroid I used once and also found that it installs tons of garbage. I do not know too much about computers, so I am a bit fussy about what is allowed and what is not, droid is not.
I have no account, have rooted it and deleted everything I do not want, use a VPN, the sim card is on another name so are my mail accounts, I exist at no social network, have never used playstore. When I google myself in an internet cafe, I have yet to find ONE SINGLE entry for my real name---- At my age, I am sure that will do...
I am using 2.0.3. Did not know that google playstore is sort of mandatory. Does it only ask at installation for it or nags it all the time? My phone is rooted as well. Anyway I 'live' with the playstore. I control apps / ads either with pi-hole when I am on VPN or netguard firewall directly on the phone.
I have no idea if it will be possible, but some camera applications (Motorola's for example) have a built-in QR code, barcode, landmark reader and the like. Perhaps you could find an APK of a camera app from a brand of phone that includes that built-in functionality, as it would work without internet.
This is a real question: Can you explain to me what a QR reader is actually "needed" for? When i fly, and the airline sends me a an e-mail with a QR in it, I can simply tale a totally normal photo and it works without any problem at electronic check in.
I never had to use any QR code scanner on my phone when I travel. Usually airlines tie the personal ID to a 6 digit booking code and you can present that at check-in. At 'common' check-in with baggage you actually only need to present your passport and they do anything for you. When I go by train I present my ticket's QR code directly on the phone and they do scan it. The same applied to any postage related stuff.... I only used it once to place orders at a modern Biergarten lol...
As I wrote above, the installation will not complete unless I visit any google... no matter which one....
At the airports I use there is a non-counter check in, even the boarding pass is issued by the machine. Also the baggage is with computer only, and the QR works totally fine for all of this. Even if it is done with a simple picture taken by a phone from the e-mail. The airline I use is the only one that flies non-stop for me....
