Hi, I'm testing out Windows Server 2016 and came across the Remote Desktop Service role. I assume this is to allow remote access to the server? but I see that you can also enable remote desktop access using on System Properties / Remote / Allow remote connections to this computer. I like to ask if these are related or not? My understanding is the Remote Desktop Service role needs CALs, while the Remote Desktop in the System Properties does not need CALs? Why do you need CALs if you can use the Remote Desktop? what is the benefit? Thank you!
