I want to install Windows 10 Pro on a Surface 3 tablet for a friend. She had Windows 10 Pro (a very old version, probably from 2018) on it with the activation attached to her Microsoft account so reactivating won't be an issue. She had a bad crash and I wasn't able to do a recovery of her system. Luckily, she only uses the tablet for emails and web surfing so she didn't lose anything important. My question is how can I install Windows so when she boots it up for the first time, it asks for her time zone, WiFi password and prompts her to sign into her Microsoft account? I want to set it up like when she first bought the Surface but I want to install the latest 19042.450 for her so she has the latest version. She is not super literate in computers so I want to make the process as easy as possible. TIA
Install Windows as you normally would but when it gets to Enter User Name selection you Ctrl Shift F3. This is audit mode. It will boot to admin and go to desktop. Don't close Audit Mode Window. Do any customizations, installs, etc. Then on drop down menu in audit mode box select shut down. Now when you give it to her Windows will be installed, and she can do as you have indicated above.
Great, thank you so much, exactly what I was looking for. I want her to be able to turn it on, answer a few questions and be able to use the tablet without any issues. This sounds like it will do exactly what I need. Thanks again, cheers!
