We -the Moderators- are discussing about if a SLIC2.1 that has got a new public / private key pair is still activating Vista......(only cert. 2.1 available) Could somebody who has tried that already shed light on it? Especially what's about ASUS SLIC 2.1? Is it still activating Vista? I thought it would....... Thanks for your results.....
My program uses SLIC 2.1 in some cases to activate both Vista and Windows 7, from what I have heard they all work fine
Not sure if i got that right. Do you mean 2.1 SLIC in general or only in combination with a 2.1 Cert? I can confirm that a DELL 2.1 activates both Vista and 7 with the old DD981F15 Cert...
For ASUS not working. When I modded my bios for SLIC 2.1 somehow my vista went to trial period. So I flashed my bios again with the original one and use software loader to activate windows 7. Dont know yet though cause asus did not published slic 2.1 yet. Atleast for my notebook F8vr
when you updated slic to 2.1 you should also update with new certificate in vista... Asus is using different certs for 2.0 slic and 2.1 slic, while for a lot of other companys they are same.
in my 7 ultimate i have hp 2.1 slic and 2.0 cert and the "hyrr2" key is installed if i run "slmgr.vbs -xpr" it says that 7 is activated permanently
If I understand your question correctly, I bought a dell notebook around 10 days back with vista home premium installed (with free upgrade to win 7). The bios had SLIC 2.1. Now I installed an Dell OEM copy of Win 7 Ultimate 64bit and I didnt need any loader. It activated on its own. Hope that helps
I updated my Bios with the Asus 2.1 Bin and then flashed it. Installed Windows 7 and inserted the Cert and key and it activated fine. I then booted back into Vista and noticed that it was deactivated. I then removed the old cert from vista and installed the new Asus2.1 cert. Re-booted and then Vista was activated. So yes, the new 2.1 certs/bin work with activating Vista along with activating windows 7 at the same time.
I do not know about the ASUS one but I have a Dell SLIC 2.1 table in my bios for my asus board and it is activating vista perfectly via bios mod activation so I would imagine that it would work all around with loaders and other stuff.
I have come across this forum and thread by chance, as I am seeking out information regarding getting my pc ready for an upgrade to win7 later this week. Having found some information on the blog on how to check what Slic I have installed, it became apparent that I had slic2.0, which needed to be changed. RW-Everything also shown that I have the ASUS cert, so I opened up Orbit Loader version 5, chose ASUS, installed the Slic and Cert then rebooted. My pc is now showing as Slic 2.1 with cert from ASUS, and my vista Ult, is still fully activated. Hope this helps with the info being asked about ASUS.
oh that i didnt know ^_^ thanks mate. well i decided to completely remove vista so it is only windows 7 installed. thanks sir for the info anyway
I activated vista with 2.1 sliced bios, new cert and vista ultimate key 100%.The old cert wouldn´t work
@all: Thanks a lot for your replies..... This I've quoted, because it confirmes what I wanted to know...... So newly issued certs + newly issued SLICs2.1 (therefore is NO OLD cert. available, because the pubkey has changed) are still activating Vista. Such as ASUS and Acer SLIC2.1..
