Question Regarding BIOS MOD With AwardTool Hello Everyone, I have a couple of questions regarding a BIOS i made with AwardTool 1.18. For testing purposes i have inserted a DELL SLIC2.1 and DELL SLP into an untouched original BIOS. As you can see on the screenshot, the SLP part looks rather wierd, some lines have been deleted completely, some partially, and the line that holds the actual SLP string has simply been overwritten to have the first 11 chars read 'Dell System', effectively giving us a string that reads 'Dell Systemward WorkstationBIOS v6.00PG'. Question1: Is that the output one would expect from a 0+2 mod with AwardTool 1.18? And would it be valid? Question2: The first IBM reference seems to be spanning from 1E000/0E to 1E040/0F. It has only been deleted from 1E000/0E to 1E040/08 though. Is there a special reason for this or would it be safe to zero it all the way to 0E? Question3: The full manufacturer string spans from 1E060/01 to 1E080/07. The first n chars are obviously describing the SLP, but what about the rest? Would it be O.K. to just insert 'Dell System' from 1E60/01 to 1E60/0B and zero the rest from 1E60/0C to 1E80/07? Question4: What about the other Phoenix/Phoenix Technologies references? Do they have to be left intact? If not, can they be zeroed or must there be other text instead? And what about the first Phoenix, which ends in a shifted lowercase 'a' ? You probably already guessed it by now; im simply trying to figure out how one would go about this if they wanted to do it manually. Thus any pointers regarding do's and dont's etc. would be great as i would really like to understand the whole procedure and the internals in general. (Dont worry, im a quick study.) Thanks, Phazor
