It's fake, there isn't an official x64 edition. Whoever runs the site may have editted it themselves.
Firefox x64 It turns out that 'Shiretoko' is the Code name for Firefox x64 Version 3.5. The next version v3.6 is code name 'Minefield' and is in the pre-release stage. Google 'Firefox x64' and you will find plenty more.
Thank you very much, but I have some questions remaining: 1. why the installer (Firefox-3.5.1.en-US.win64.installer.exe) is not digitally signed by Mozilla ?? 2. although it's a x64 bit, it installed in the (Program files x86) folder 3. the program has no (check for updates) feature.
yeah strange for folder install ( x86) but Check your Process running in task manager , Shiretoko is a native 64 app.
ITS NOT DIGITALLY SIGNED BECAUSE ITS NOT FROM MOZILLA. update probably isn't there since it can't update from actual Firefox and whoever is coding this more than likely didn't set up a system for that.
I would like to thank everyone for helping me .. after all I think I will stick with the official firefox (32 bit) hopefully Mozilla will release the x64 in the future
Mozilla is open source, meaning anyone can compile it for 64 bit, which is the case with that site. And obviously the update feature doesn't work if you compile it yourself for 64 bit. At the moment 64 bit browsers are a bit of a waste of time since there's no 64 bit version of flash..
Stukan, when you grow up, you'll learn that you're not always right and you don't have to be. Instead of using cheap version of "Internet Flaming Bible", could you be not so fast to push that pretty "Submit Reply" button? You saw "ITS NOT DIGITALLY SIGNED BECAUSE ITS NOT FROM MOZILLA." and demanded proof... and totally ignoring that, you picked another part of text using that to make false argument. Shiretoko may be FF code, but as it's from third party (not from Mozilla!), it can be argued that it's not real FF (from Mozilla). That is, in some sense it is "fake" FF. Now, I don't want to tear your post to parts, but there are even more childish things in it. However, I hope you grow up and learn to be less hostile in future.
