Does anyone know how often Windows checks HWID and product key? I bought a computer the other day from someone for cheap and just realized that it was probably stolen for the price I paid. Windows 10 was restored/reset to factory but I’m assuming to activate it Microsoft will check HWID and activation key and probably during updates? Anyway to avoid/around this?

If the laptop was originally delivered with win 8/10 pre-installed, it will use the MSDM for activation (will change into hwid).

Why make a post with a possible important question, wait for an answer and then erase the post? Your question might help others. Don't do that, ever.
