HP desktop - 1 year old.

There was Windows 7 on it.

New HDD. I want to put Win 10 on it - clean install. What is the quickest way of doing this via DVD?

If you have just the plain DVD the normal setup is the quickest way.

If you can connect the new HDD as Second drive, you can spare a lot of time using

    imagex /apply or DISM /apply-image

hi TS, thanks for your reply.

I seem to be caught in a vicious loop of

"it looks you started an upgrade and booted from installation media. If you want to continue withe upgrade remove the media from your Pc and click Yes. If you want to
perform clean installation instead click No"

Then when I get to clean install I get

"windows setup could initialise the deployment engine"

This ISO file is only 3.78GB - does that sound right?

Make sure your booting from the disk not starting the install from within Windows 7. Make sure that Windows 7 drive isnt even plugged in. If your using build 1511 at least you can enter the product key and activate later.

ok thanks would you have a link for a Windows 10 iso? I am still dubious as to the validity of the copy I've downloaded.

    Download from Microsoft worked great.

No activation needed - I guess it was picked up from the BIOS?
