    Hi,

Does anyone have any idea why all builds of W8 have run really slow on my machines? I don't think it's hardware specific, seeing as I've installed 2 of the builds on 2 different machines. Everything is laggy: moving windows, typing, web browsing, everything.

I'm currently on 7989 on a fairly old PC, but it runs W7 perfectly well. Laggy as hell now.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them!

I only really use this pc for beta's and other stuff, so it's pretty old.

    Dual Core Intel Pentium, 2.93GHz
    512Mb RAM (Pitiful, I know)
    Integrated Graphics.

Windows 7 works perfect on this PC, but not 8. I tried a few builds on my powerful machine (quadcore i5) and it was still slow, if not slower.

The RAM is very low. Windows 8 requires at least 2 GB RAM.
As for your other PC, there might be some other hardware issues.

My other machine deffinately doesn't have any hardware issues, as when in windows7 everything works fine, I can use all RAM etc. I just hope that when the RC comes out, this issue I'm having (whatever it is) gets fixed.

Definately get a ram upgrade. That will solve most of your problem.

I'm running Win8 with a 64MB AGP GFX card I pulled out of a dell GX240 with aero enabled.
    Other specs: 1gb ram, 2.6GHZ P4 o/c to 3.4Ghz. fried ps2 ports.. It's an Asus board P45800-MX

I have a Sandy Bridge build with 8 gig ram and an SSD. To me Win 8 7989 is a lot faster than Win 7 sp1. You definitely need more ram.

Even for Win7, the min ram should be 1gb...

Apart from JizzyMojo's problem, I've noticed that Win8 runs freakin' fast on my system compared to Win7. I mean my system is fast (phenom II 1090T, 16G DDR3, 4870x2, OCZ Vertex 3), but with win 8 it's lightning fast.
