    The MAK is for Pro.

it's a given, they want to know how many pirated copies there are, its a great way to measure it, count how many activations happen on machines using that key.

they can decide if they want to blacklist that when they want to, i suspect they'll leave it going for some time as they hope to keep people using windows, a market that is rapidly declining.

The reason they aren't giving the free upgrade to XP and Vista is because they know there will be so many machines of that era that won't run well on Windows 10, they'll either go too slow, have very limited driver support or just be unstable as they're already stuffed with leaking capacitors and so on. The problems combined with the older computers could have a huge potential to give Windows 10 a bad reputation. Computers of that age really need replaced. It makes sense to only give it to Win7 + computers. Also computers from late in Windows 7's time to now is the time a majority of computers sold were laptops or OEM's like HP and Lenovo, the market for the generic home built and small computer retailer computers died off pretty quickly so most people will have a genuine oem install already.

It's basically taken OSX's stance, Windows is now free..... they hope to make money from their services and the cut they get from the store... The same model Apple and Google have.

MS spoke about offering plausibly priced Upgrade options for XP/Vista :g:.

One one machine I had to use codey's tool for training purposes.
Made the upgrade and now slmgr.vbs says it's genauine and permantly activated.

    But that can't be true...

Actually I'm on Win 8.1 Pro...do you suggest to: format > Win 7 > Daz > Win 10 ? ...or just go straight foward with the upgrade from Win 8.1 > Win 10?

I have time to do the whole process so for me it isn't a big deal....just trying to figure it out what could happen since
? They could prompt you haven't a genuine version in the future?
Is this thing less probable upgrading from Daz?

    Thanks

Has anybody on any non-VL version of 7 or 8.1 not get activated for any reason other than slow server response? I don't think I have heard of one yet. Actually even VL is getting activated as I did one of those myself yesterday.

Sorry for asking too many questions. I'm not intended to bother you in a annoying manner.

    1. If it's skeptic of using this MAK key, why you still recommend to use it?
    2. Does KMS giving the sama MAK key?

It gives you the default MAK if you upgrade from a system activated with KMS/MAK.
It does that because your system used Volume Licensing.
You can change key to the retail one and it will work and remain activated (at least that's what someone said in the 240 thread)

:D ... thread was created to hint the people that i can see a hook here, still it's their own faith/choice to proceed.

Even THE CREATOR OF THE FIRST KMS TOOL (a properly working one) recommends to use Daz Tool on 7 to Upgrade to 10 afterwards ... if that doesn't ring any bell, doggie is clueless.

I don't know if it's allowed or not but a little question. I upgraded my Windows 8.1 MAK activated to Windows 10 by official way (notification from get Windows 10 app) and now the question is: If I clean install this PC that has MAK key then after it will be activated like a retail or what ?
