Reinstalling old game, help needed with DirX

    I recently uninstalled Need For Speed: Most Wanted (2005), which requires DirectX 9.0c to be installed. After I dl'd the setup directly from Microsoft and launched it in compatibility for Windows Vista Service Pack 2, the setup (allegedly) installed it. However, the game's installer still keeps saying it wasn't.

    Wrong game, and NFS:MW (2005) isn't in the steam library. That thread can't help me at all.

    1. Copy the disk to your hdd
    2. search for autorun.cfg
    3. replace     "DirectXVersion=9.0c" with "DirectXVersion=0"
    4. Install from folder
