Reinstalling Threshold 2 Pro on PC that shipped with 8.1 Home

    I have a PC that originally came with 8.1 Home It has been upgraded to 8.1 Pro and then 10 Pro.

    I've reinstalled 10 Pro (10240) a few times without problems. When it comes to reinstalling with TH2 media will I have trouble with the installer detecting a Home key in the BIOS? Is there a tool to change the BIOS key?

    Use a dingle Pro image media (i.e. remove home edition)
    or use ei.cfg + pid.txt to force Professional

    ei.cfg you provided (_default) gives the choice between Home and Pro and the choice is pro and he will get the digital entitlement activation (every 4 months ;)).

    Last night, my Acer Switch 10 was successfully upgraded via WU from 10240 Pro to 10586 Pro.

    Learn to use dism/imagex/gimagex and get rid of such problems for good.

    I think MS stopped using dingle, so he'll need to find a single.
