    Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool for Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2 x64 Edition - September 2016 (KB890830).

Looking for someone who has done it before themselves plz.

    Thank you.

It runs one time and then ceases to function according to Microsoft. Then next month you get that's month's version which also runs once and goes dormant. Are you planning on removing each one on a monthly basis after it's run and gone dormant?

    Microsoft says:
"Microsoft released the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool to help remove specific prevalent malicious software ... After you download the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool, it runs one time to check your computer for inflection by specific prevalent malicious software ... and helps remove any infection it finds. Microsoft releases a new version of the tool every month."

I want to remove it permanently and I will shut off auto updates. Will that take care of it?

    thx

Yep, that'll take care of it. It'll never run again.

Well, yeah ... if you permanently stop updates my guess would be you'd stop it and you'd also stop everything else too. But I'm just not sure how you "permanently" remove a recurring, cyclical, event with a one time thing aimed at one of the instances in the cycle ... the cycle would just continue. Why do you want to completely shut down all updates?

If you have a proper antivirus, the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool is superfluous, read useless. But it doesn’t do any harm either, I’ve never heard of it causing any problems. So it’s not worth turning WU off for its sake, doing that could result in real harm.

Exactly how did you shutoff updates in Windows 10? Are you sure you don't need to be in the Windows 7 section? You can't exactly and directly freely choose which updates you get in 10. In my VM version of 10 I just looked at, the "Malicious" update isn't even shown in the list of installed updates and I've gotten all available for the last several months.

    Settings>advanced options>advanced options>defer feature updates.

Is that the correct way to do it or am i mistaken? If i am, how do I stop them plz?

    thx

[FONT=&amp]What's the issue? We've spent a couple of pages with you describing a bogus update theme, what is it you now think is wrong?

    My screen looks like this:
