We have an HP a6511a.uk desktop with Vista HP/32. As sure as can be that mobo has died - tried the usual steps (graphics card/psu/ram/remove all USB devices/memory card reader trick, etc) Problem with replacing the mobo with identical and addressing SLP issues? The actual model is m2n68-la narra3 rev 3.02 (partno 5189--1661 rev F01) as far as I can see the same mobo was used in Acer, Asus, as well as HP desktops. As I can't get into the BIOS, so would prefer the HP variety, but can't find any in the UK, so am wondering what issues I might find with using either the Asus or Acer mobo of the same model etc, or would I hit SLP issues? Anyone had expereince of this, or know how to resolve? Thanks in advance.
3.xx bios version if im correct is for xp and mediacenter. but can be slic 2.0 or 2.1 modded no problem with ISA method if im correct
replacing HP a6511 mobo How does one do this? I have seen one post, but this is only accessible for guys with at least 10 posts. Would you be kind enough to perhaps point me to where/how this maybe done please (bearing in mind that the existing board is bust and the BIOS is inaccessible to get the SLP/ cert off it. ALthough of course I do have the COA sticker on the desktop case). Thank you
I have the HP mobo in my hand and is definitely 3.02, and the COA sticker on the case is for Vista - maybe Asus or Acer versions 3.02 were for XP? Although Vista in theory could be downgraded to XP, HP never posted XP drivers for XP on their website. I am no expert on BIOS modding so need a little help/advice, please. Thank you PS Just checked the Asus support site, and drivers for this board are for XP, Vista, & 7 - couldn't find Acer drivers (yet).
ohh i must be wrong then of bios version to xp.. vista? means it has slic 2.0 already use daz windows loader to activate vista.. or 7 after adding slic 2.1 to bios
When the replacement HP narra3 rev 3.02 arrives I will investigate Daz (which of course I have absolutely no expereince of). I won't know the BIOS till the replacement item arrives - it is frustrating that the HP website doesn't list any BIOS updates for this board, so will need to assess when I get it. Thank you both for responding to my enquiry.
