If you had some Remote Control Server installed on your "CPU", it would be very easy! There is quite some Remote Control app, like RAdmin and others, available for to do such job. I have on all of my computers RAdmin Server installed and could access them from just using the RAdmin Viewer from any internal computer running at my Office and Home. And also from the Internet and anywhere on this planet! All you would need right now, to install such a Remote Control Server on your "CPU", would be to borrow some Monitor to be able to install that Server software. Just to mention, RAdmin is not free, it's payware! There is quite some very good and free Remote Control software available, just google for it! LiteManager is one of those! I use RAdmin because I own quite some Licenses for it and I also use that to do Service to my customers. And the features are very good, as well RAdmin is also very fast. It also used to go in direct connection via the Internet with high security! If you like to get more info, ask!
Remote desktop will always have latency and compression artifacts. If you need to use your laptop as a monitor, you need to buy a board that converts the LVDS signal to hdmi and remove the display from your laptop. Or... buy a monitor.
@case-sensitive: you really didn't read! In my post and my reply to YOU, I also stated that the OP needs to borrow a Monitor to be able to install the Remote Control Server! @TigTex: Remote Desktop isn't really useful for such work! A good Remote Control Server is simply the best way to go. I use RAdmin for much more than 10 years already with no problem. The only problem is mainly the low Upload speed some users get provided by their ISPs! The connection between the Viewer and the Server in good Remote Control Software should be direct, without going over some 3.party servers, like TeamViewer and others, include Remote Desktop which goes via MS Servers! All those 3.party servers capturing data from both sides of the connection are used, even some denying no to do so!
