only one I have different from your list and it isn't in ISO form. Win98 FE Upgrade Code: File: PRECOPY2.CAB CRC-32: 049fbe1c MD4: 3874cebc540859e280a7b09e0f673811 MD5: c29dc3a3ab095a589622fa0b654d31f2 SHA-1: a3af646b68b42b365b73b0e707ae9acf717ca133 1.27 MB (1,332,799 bytes)
Well for FE, there are 2 editions - original one issues in May 11th, and was reissued in 24th November due to Java lawsuit - can you upload the PRECOPY2.CAB for me please
Ok the 1 from EFA was Retail Upgrade (102), and the 2 from Oz were both OEM Upgrade (116) for FE and SE. Oz: Do you have full untouched ISO's? I've added in some ISO SHA1's from what I have untouched?
For 98FE, they produced a full CD with all extra's for MSDN channel. This was effectively the same as retail, but with a different PRECOPY2.CAB and an added MSBATCH.INF to pre-enter the product key. This CD included all extras and without knowledge of the 2 changes, would look identical content wise to a retail ISO. When they next updated the CD, they did it differently. Instead of a full CD with all the extras on, they included a folder for WIN98 containing the re-issued WIN98 folder from FE, and a second folder for SE with the WIN98 folder and most (but not all) of the extra files. They never produced a full CD for SE MSDN channel that kept the same structure as retail/OEM CD's. Applied patch ... does this match the ISO of your OEM upgrade? Code: File: en_win98_oem_upgrade.iso CRC-32: 8113d1ee MD4: 29799d9221ac8faf2169573f5b446a35 MD5: 84b73c4988da64af6c42ef092dcd8c6a SHA-1: 4783ac7d217f4db09227a4dbec8d22e87aa8e62e
As crazy as it sounds ... The file they released on MSDN for SE was the retail and not the MSDN build. Most people who think they have the MSDN build because they got it from MSDN or the same hash as MSDN. Infact the MSDN builds were (as far as I know) only sent on the physical monthly subscription CD's to MSDN subscribers... Do you have a Delta for the SE OEM upgrade iso also? The same btw was also true of ME. The version on the site is "Retail" but there is an "MSDN" CD also only shipped on disc (full CD version) You can rely on M$ to be unpredictable.
There are a few ME that I have seen, including a MSDN, OEM (Boot) & Retail. Only difference between Retail & MSDN is a included serial.
They pulled the same trick on ME - The site offered the retail version but the media sent out contained MSDN one Code: Full CD ------- File: PRECOPY1.CAB CRC-32: 8ff376b4 MD4: 9c6e209dd4925fb9f58a4764bf9e06a2 MD5: 222953b77a9daf129add3108889abdd9 SHA-1: dcacaec35b9185c946262872c40a22b94adf191c Size: 2,696,980 bytes Product Type: 101 - Microsoft Windows ME 4.90.3000 Retail CD Full ISO SHA1: 6b95da74ef1695ff78e495afb7aeea991a85260c Code: MSCD CD ------- File: PRECOPY1.CAB CRC-32: 75a0645c MD4: 3619cf617aa1ababe55bb255febc0066 MD5: a8e0994e24014653a04168ec0e9b13bc SHA-1: 6e72c1ff3e7aaa6dc8a415d30a268c238dee52a7 Size: 2,696,980 bytes Product Type: 111 - Microsoft Windows ME 4.90.3000 MSDN ISO SHA1: 7e13981281e3a08416bb94fec654c176f3a891e5 Got some other builds of ME also - which I will add later to this list. ME is my least favourite Windows OS as it would not even install on my PC when it came out - my PC was a 'modern' PIII 733 with an ABit mother board. It hung during hardware detection even with all extra hardware removed/bios features disabled. You can tell it was rushed out to fill a gap in the home user between 9X and XP as 2000 was not ready for 'home' use.
Yeah, those are the two I have as well. Almost forgot, could you do a delta for the FE Java update, using original OEM FE as source? Code: c95fe41b1bc7c83e16bdd9ec8cbd97866552a06b -> 7c7a79ce3f21749f7e2160e96337d57a64ffbb92

Going to send you something in the next day or so that will generate all 98v1,98v2,98SE and ME images - just finishing up the script now.
I think I have them all, at least all listed above and one which you haven't updated to include full ISO sha1 Code: OEM CD Upgrade -------------- File: PRECOPY2.CAB CRC-32: 0e23563e MD4: 4a23d1ac6eddfe1f8c39a9f2b9280ee8 MD5: 0d0cb4276e9ff29f83ff1c8458d4a484 SHA-1: 87cc7263aa6ce36cd8bd0e0a84f13609f5352cb9 Size: 1,336,231 bytes Product Type: 116 - Clean install using OEM CD ISO SHA-1: promisedmyselfnottoshare:):):):):):):)
Yep those type 116's are funny ... never understood what they were for until today ... With all those other files slightly changed requires a bit more work to reproduce than a replacement PRECOPY2.CAB and running CDIMAGE But done Matches the SHA1 of yours that you sent to me.
I wonder retail full version of Windows 98 FE v2 (24/11/1998 - Reissue following Java settlement) has never been released. I know retail full version of Win98 exist as FE v1 (CD Type), SE. (I remember Floppy version of FE could be ordered from MS directly only by using coupen or post card within Retail full package.)
