So I'd like to throw a suggestion in to the ring that once a new build is released and the discussion thread created, could we create a sub-forum related to JUST requests for a particular flavor (EN-US x64 Pro, etc)? I'm guessing that 60% of these new build forums are just build link requests and those of us looking for actual support for problems or interested in threads that cover the actual build are slogging through page after page of unrelated "discussion" to the actual build. Is that of interest/help to anyone else? Is it even possible?
I would rather see people that are requesting download links in the first 5 minutes get a little time out.
Another 15% are bitching about the build being generally buggy and "the worst yet", 10% complaints about known issues, 5% advising to go back to the previous one, and another 5% reminders of Windows 10's invasive data collection that can't be stopped. That leaves about 5% for actual discussion, which I think isn't too far off.
Best would be directly to delete that "Request's", and I mean any of those! Just, that's a Moderation and Moderator/Administrator issue, which may differs a lot from what Users'/Members are like an thinking! As long as a Topic is announced as Discussion, it should strictly bound to such that!
Good idea I must say as always the new builds post get filled with requests for esd's there is little to find about the build itself and witch bugs there are ! some people do inform about the new build and that is what should be in the discussion post
I also get tired of having scroll past many useless posts asking for ESDs in every language under the sun and looking for actual discussion. I give up by page 5 usually. Perhaps for each build there should be two threads. One limited to actual discussion.
The error does Microsoft they should always offer an ISO. There are many good reasons for a ISO and sha-256 hash checksum.
The problem is that their intention is to test and improve the upgrade experience. ISO/ESD can be used for clean install, and that's not what they want people to do. At least not on the faster of the fast rings. IMO their whole procedure of delivering updates and new features needs to change. First of all, they should get rid of the requirement to do an in-place upgrade and make everything cumulative. Individual components should be versioned and updated. No need to compile and deploy an entire build just for some additions/fixes. And it would save a lot of bandwidth. Right now, people are downloading a ton of redundant bits and bytes for every new build published.
